Does my foreign degree qualify for the Master's in Intercultural Studies?

To apply to the Master in Intercultural Studies (MAIKS) at NLA Bergen, your bachelor's degree must be equivalent to a Norwegian 3-year bachelor's (minimum 180 ECTS) and include a graded thesis or major paper (grade C or higher).
NLA assesses foreign degrees during the application process. When applying, upload:
- Your diploma and official transcripts
- A translation into Norwegian or English (if not already in a Scandinavian language or English)
You do not need a NOKUT recognition before applying, but it can strengthen your application. Apply for NOKUT recognition at ๐ hkdir.no
โ ๏ธ The programme is taught in Norwegian. You must document Norwegian proficiency (e.g. Bergenstesten at B2 or equivalent) regardless of where your degree is from.

How do I book study counselling if I am not yet an NLA student?

The booking link on the NLA website requires a Microsoft login linked to an active NLA student account. If you are a prospective or external applicant, you cannot use this link.

What is the application deadline for Master's programmes (autumn 2026)?

Master's programmes at NLA, including the Master in Intercultural Studies, use local admission โ you apply directly through NLA, not via Samordna opptak.
